AboutDeadReckoning
Deadreckoningistheprocessofestimatingone’scurrent
positionbaseduponapreviouslydeterminedposition,orx,
andadvancingthatpositionbaseduponmeasuredvelocity,
time,heading,aswellastheeffectofcurrentsorwind.While
thismethodofnavigationisnolongerconsideredprimaryin
ships,itisstilloftenusedasabackupincaseoffailureofthe
electronicnavigationsystems.Deadreckoningbeginswitha
knownposition,orx.Thisxisthenadvanced,mathematically,
bymeansofrecordedheading,velocity,andtime.Thevelocityis
determinedbymeansoftheDopplerlog.

DefaultSetting
Dialogdescription
TheDefaultSettingparameterdialogopenswhenyouclickthe
DefaultSettingbuttonintheSetupmenu.
Thisfunctionmakesitpossibletodeletealltheparameters
currentlysavedinthesonar’smemory,andreinstallthose
denedbySimradinstead;thefactorydefaultsettings.These
defaultsettingsareidentiedwithanasteriskinthedifferent
parameterdialogsandmenus,andwillperformwellunder
normalconditions.
DefaultSettingsdialogoptions
•OK:Clicktoloaddefaultsettings.Notethatthesettingstake
effectimmediately,andthesonarwillautomaticallyswitch
totheBowupdisplaymode.
•Cancel:Clicktocanceltheoperation.Theparameterdialog
willclose,andnodefaultsettingswillbeloaded.
